RAW Milk Not for Sale
It is illegal for anyone in Canada to distribute or
sell raw milk and raw milk products.
Since 1938, legislation has made it mandatory for all Ontario dairy
farmers to sell or distribute only pasteurized milk.
It is legal for Ontario farmers to consume milk from their own animals
without pasteurization.
The pasteurization heating process kills a number of bacteria that
exists in raw milk that can lead to serious diseases or even death.
The controversy over what is destroyed in the heating process of the
milk or the fact that numerous families have been drinking unpasteurized
milk with apparent few health problems are left to personal choice. You
are not legally able to purchase raw milk. A convicted Ontario farmer
selling the unpasteurized product to any one other than licensed milk
brokers, will face fines and a loss of their license.
Currently, those intent on bypassing the regulations for pasteurization, can only use milk from their own animals.
